HUDDLE Groups

Our HUDDLE Groups at Eastridge serve one primary purpose: to bring spiritual formation, spiritual maturity, accountability and learning down to the personal level. A Sunday morning Bible class of 30+ teens offers a great learning experience at the large group level but cannot match the personal level of attention and focus that a small group of 10-12 students can achieve. Thus, each of our 120+ teens in the Eastridge youth group are assigned small group with their peers, led by a dedicated adult couple in our congregation. These groups meet regularly once a month on Wednesday nights during the school year, but are free to expand out and meet on their own time as well. Their curriculum is a more in-depth discussion of the lesson from the teen/parent Family Class the week before. (For more info on this Family Class ministry, see our Family Class brochure, available on the Eastridge Youth website)

Mirroring in many ways the small group environment enjoyed by our church as a whole in our Small Groups Ministry, these groups go deep in study, sharing, prayer, and fellowship. Group leaders are dedicated to the students in their group and take their role as spiritual leaders & mentors seriously. Leaders are hand-picked but must also show a strong willingness and desire to serve in this critical role. Teens are, for the most part, randomly assigned to groups, and groups stay together for 2 years at a time (same teens, same leaders) if possible in order to grow a strong group dynamic. At the end of two years, leaders are given the option to rotate out, new ones can rotate in, and all teens are mixed again to provide more fellowship between students of all grade levels. Seniors rotate out in the spring, groups take the summer off from meeting, and new incoming 7th graders are assigned groups in the fall.
