Scripture of the Month

Woe to him who says to wood, ‘Come to life!’ Or to lifeless stone, ‘Wake up!’ Can it give guidance? It is covered with gold and silver; there is no breath in it. But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.

Habakkuk 2:19-20

A Great Theology: Knowing the God of the Bible

2011 Sermon Series by Greg Parks

Postmodernism's effect on Christianity has been multifaceted, but perhaps its greatest symptom has been a regression from being willing to say anything about God.  Whereas modernism proposed to put God in a box, postmodernism's proposal has been that we can know nothing about God- we should only be concerned with "being in relationship" with Him.  But to have a relationship with someone, one needs to be able to know certain things about the other person and be able make confident propositions about them.  God wants us to know certain aspects about who He is, and He reveals those to us in the Bible.  Far from desiring His people to be confused and uncertain about their God, He desires for us to know His love, His power, His sovereignty, and other characteristics.
