Leadership Training for Christ

Eastridge has been involved with North Texas Leadership Training for Christ (LTC) for over 10 years, quickly becoming one of the largest groups to attend the downtown Dallas convention. Each winter, along with a host of volunteer adult coaches and sponsors, over 70 of our 3rd-12th graders begin working on dramas, puppet skits, choral performances, speeches, paintings and sculptures, Bible Bowl, scrapbooks, children's books,and a myriad of other categories designed to bring out the spiritual gifts and passions that God has given them. Then, on Easter weekend in the spring, we join over three thousand other students from all over the North Texas and Oklahoma area to enjoy a weekend of fellowship, competition, and excitement.

One of the great components of LTC for Eastridge is the family atmosphere. Over two hundred parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles accompany our participants on convention weekend, providing a wonderful environment of Christian encouragement across generational lines. Our youth group and our church family are brought closer together as we all join hands to celebrate both the physical and spiritual accomplishments of our youth.

Eastridge has become one of the landmark congregations in the LTC arena. In 2010, Eastridge was asked to become the coordinating congregation for all Drama events at the downtown Dallas convention site. In 2009, our Junior High Drama team was invited to perform prior to the Sunday morning worship assembly, and several of our young men were invited to lead singing and present their speeches during the service.

While the medals and recognition are certainly an encouragement to our young people, the real benefit of LTC comes in the form of the training and skill-development they receive in finding their ability to serve the Kingdom and the opportunity for the entire congregation to applaud and bless their efforts as the church of tomorrow.
