Community Involvement

Hospital Visitation
This ministry promotes visits by Eastridge members to fellow members who have been admitted to hospitals in the local area. The purpose is to provide compassionate care support to our brothers and sisters in the hospital.

Need-a-Ride
This ministry’s purpose is to provide incidental transportation service to those in need. It is primarily targeted for the elderly and for those who might be incapacitated from surgery or illness.

Arms of Hope
This ministry’s main emphasis is to support the mother/child “Together” program at Boles Hole in Quinlan. I picture a type of mentoring program with our ladies from Eastridge scheduling time to spend with the moms collectively as well as individually. The goal would be to help these moms to develop close relationships with Christian women as well as Christian families so they can see what a God led household looks like. It will also give them the Christian family ties they need to break the cycle they have been in and encouragement to make good choices for their families. Boles would like these Eastridge families to become their extended family.

Family Enrichment
The Marriage Enrichment ministry is focused on strengthening and healing the marriages of the Eastridge church family and the surrounding community. We want to develop an environment where marriage issues are openly discussed and where husbands and wives feel comfortable reaching out and asking for help with marriage issues. We purpose to develop a church family that rebuffs Satan’s attempts to tear family units apart, and that strengthens their ability to raise godly children.

Benevolence
To purpose of this ministry is to provide assistance to those in physical need in our community and in our congregation. The goal is that by meeting a person’s physical needs, they will be more receptive to our help with meeting their spiritual needs. The main work of this ministry is coordinated through the church front office since most cases either come there directly, or by referral to the Eastridge office staff.

Boy Scouts
The purpose of this ministry is to promote involvement of Eastridge members, ministries, & activities, with the Eastridge-sponsored Boy Scout Troop 989. Through coordination with various ministry service projects, opportunities are provided for the scouts to fulfill service requirements towards rank advancement, and to interact with and be a part of the Eastridge community. Opportunities exist for Eastridge adult members to serve as merit badge counselors, serve as religious/spiritual counselors for either scouting’s God & Me program or the Church of Christ Joyful Servant program, serve as assistant scoutmasters, and serve on the troop committee.

Sock Drive
This ministry provides socks for needy school children in the Rockwall and Royse City area. The socks are provided in conjunction with a community shoe drive for needy school children, and it also provides an opportunity for positive visibility of the Eastridge church in the community.

Thanksgiving Baskets
This ministry provides Thanksgiving Day dinner food baskets to needy families in the Rockwall area. These food baskets are intended to provide the family with all of the items needed to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner. The whole congregation participates with food donations, basket assembly, and basket delivery two days before Thanksgiving Day.

Blood Drive
This ministry coordinates with Carter Blood Care to provide an opportunity quarterly for Eastridge members to donate blood on-site at the Eastridge church building in conjunction with the Fifth Sunday morning activities. For each donated blood unit, Eastridge receives credits from Carter Blood Care with their Life Plan that may be applied to off-set hospital costs for blood products when needed by Eastridge members and Eastridge designated recipients.

Lifeline Chaplaincy
This ministry promotes awareness of and involvement with Lifeline Chaplaincy, which is a Church of Christ affiliated program that partners with participating hospitals in the greater Metroplex area. Pastoral Care Volunteers are vetted and trained by the program, and provide compassionate support to hospital patients who have indicated a desire for contact by a Church of Christ support member.

Food Pantry
This ministry maintains a (primarily boxed and canned) food pantry in the Eastridge church building that is used by the Benevolence ministry to help those in need.

Community Garden
The Eastridge Community Garden is a community outreach ministry with a benevolent purpose. The garden utilizes a ¼-acre plot located on the church property about a hundred yards west of the southwest corner of the parking lot. Soil preparation, planting, maintaining (weeding, watering, composting & mulching, and pest management), and harvesting tasks are shared by volunteers from Eastridge, along with special project participation by community service groups from the Rockwall area. The produce from the garden is shared with the membership at Eastridge, and with the needy in the Rockwall community, primarily through the Helping Hands organization.

Hands of Christ
This is a benevolent ministry that purposes to enlist volunteers from Eastridge to help those who are elderly, shut-in and otherwise in need and unable, with performing small work tasks in or around the home. Services may include lawn mowing & trimming, painting, fixing/cleaning things up, minor plumbing repair, minor appliance repair, minor automobile repair, house cleaning, and other odd jobs that are needful to be accomplished.

If you have an interest in any of these minsitries or questions, please send an email to our Ministry Leaders to learn more or get involved.
