    Email James

    Senior Minister

James Hawk and his lovely wife Jayn have seen the church in Rockwall grow from 125 members to over 1,250 members today. Brother James was instrumental in bringing the two Rockwall churches back together after many years of separation.

James has a passion for mission work in Belize having travelled there over three dozen times since 1999. He has been involved in preacher training and instrumental in guiding Eastridge to sponsor the Garden City Church of Christ in the capital city of Belmopan. He has led several mission teams from Eastridge to various places throughout Belize.

James earned a BS degree from UNT in Industrial Arts which he taught for three years. He earned a MS degree in Biblical and Related Studies from ACU.

James was diagnosed as having Parkinson’s disease in 2007. For the last eight years, Hawk has continued to teach and preach in spite of the challenges of Parkinson’s. He says, “I have a deeper appreciation for the Lord’s words, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’

James states, “I feel that standing before the church and attempting to speak from God’s word is one of the highest callings God can give a man. Parkinson’s will no longer let me give it my best. But I am happy God allowed me 38 years of ministry, 23 of which have been with Eastridge.” Brother James has been given an opportunity to stay and work in a different capacity as long as he wants. He will work on special projects and preach occasionally as health and time allow.

James and Jayn are proud of their three married children, and, they have been blessed with four lovely granddaughters and two grandsons. James loves hanging out with Jayn and spending time with family.
